Dundee Women's Aid relies on donations from the general public to enhance the basic service provided to women, young people and children who have been affected by domestic abuse.
When a woman and her family are fleeing from domestic abuse and seeking safe refuge, they often arrive with few of their own belongings.
DWA will ensure that accommodation is clean and in good repair but the organisation relies on donations to purchase everyday essentials, such as bedding, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes etc.
If a woman needs to flee to another city for safety reasons, the organisation will try to support this by giving a contribution towards travel costs. The organisation also relies on donations for the children and young people for such things as new school uniforms, if they need to change schools, or for occasional outings or parties at Halloween or Christmas.
